Dog show planned for July 9
The second annual Paws For A Cause Dog Show 2011 summer fundraiser will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at Junction City in Peoria. Rain date will be Saturday, July 16.
The main event will be an informal dog show, judged by several community members. Any dog owner is eligible to enter his or her pet. The registration fee is $10 per dog, which includes one admission ticket to the event and unlimited category entries.
Dogs will be judged in the following categories: Most Obedient; Best Kisser; Best Trick; Best Costume; Mystery Mutts; Person/Dog Look Alike; Most Toy/Ball Crazy; Most Vocal; Largest Dog; Cutest Puppy (5m-1 yr); Friendliest Dog; Smallest Dog; Senior Dog (6yrs+); and Best Eyes/ Ears.
Winners from each group will receive a commemorative prize. Visit www.givingindependence.org/Dog_Show.php to view and print a registration form and waiver. Descriptions of each category also are available on the website.
In addition to the dog show, the event will feature other demonstrations including the Peoria Police Department and Paws Giving Independence’s own service dogs and a silent auction.

I bought these ears for my Hazuki cosplay/gothic lolita halloween costume. They aren’t bad, but since I already have a headdress for the costume, the frill on these ears was excessive, but is easily removed with a stitch ripper (or an exacto knife…that’s what I used…but be careful!). I feel they are much cuter without it anyways. Also, I felt that the ears were a bit too “tall” and on top of my head (rather than to the sides a bit….can you tell I’m picky?) for my liking, so I sewed them down a smidge. Now they are perfect! It seems like alot of trouble to go through for a pair of neko ears, but trust me, I’ve tried making them myself, and it’s a heck of alot easier to modify these than to make a pair from scratch.
