1965 Ford Mustang custom wagon found on eBay (+video)

With the kiwi dollar enjoying a period of strength against the greenback, many of us are eagerly checking eBay motors in the states to see if there are bargains to be had. Some muscle car searches may have returned this little gem seen above – a Ford Mustang shooting brake.

While the Mustang wagon never got any further than a concept machine for the blue oval, but some enthusiasts have knocked together their own versions. This example was built by oddly named American Joe Ramp and it all looks pretty mint.

Ramp used a 1965 Mustang hardtop coupe as the donor car and proceeded to stretch out the roof and create custom rear side glass along with the fabricated D-pillars. As much of the stock body was retained as possible, so away from the long roof it’s all Ford-built Mustang.

To help shift around the extra weight Ramp upgraded the powertrain by dropping in a 5.0-liter V8 mated to a T5 five-speed manual gearbox. Power is put through to an eight-inch Ford rear-end and 3.00 gears. Oddities in the automotive world are endless. One of them is the Ford Mustang Station Wagon first generation. A body that, despite having developed in prototype form of clay in the year ’66, was never marketed as an original model of Ford. To use these particular pony cars had to resort to bodybuilders willing to invent a nonexistent model.

Of all these bodybuilders, the best known of engaging in these transformations are Intermeccanica, who have the honor of being the first to transform a Ford Mustang into a station wagon with the plus of having managed to bring the cover of Car & Driver your particular design. The evolution of this transformation is uncertain and is said to be preserved in a large private collection, but no documentation to certify it.

Here is for sale on eBay is one of the following transformations that most closely resemble the original Intermeccanica. Its creator is Joe Ramp construction and tried to leave his silhouette as similar to that of the Ford Mustang original, with the addition of the rear in the form of station wagon. To do a little more badass nothing better than dressing with the genes of Shelby.

The work of transformation is worthy of Ford itself and seems more an original model made a conversion not aftermarket. If we also look under the hood, we will find a motor V8 5 0 new generation associated with a gearbox Tremec T5 five-speed. Enough so that the sound emanating from its exhaust more than one fall in love despite their aesthetic is not going according to what we’re used to seeing in a Ford Mustang .

The Buy it Now on eBay is $ 59,900 but the reserve is much lower, at just $ 20,100.
