Fuji X100 Digital Camera Review

Recently I was taking pictures with my digital camera latest, which was equipped with a dozen or more "intelligent" presets, and I came to the realization that there must be something better than that, without resorting to a full digital SLR camera business, I did not want to carry around. Of course there are other compact micro 4/3rds cameras there, but I was not interested. Was I condemned to the pocket "point and shoot" forever?

Well, enter the X100 Fuji. I did not even buy a new camera until I saw this and fell in love.A nice looks good from one camera to the old style rangefinder with the guts of a modern digital camera modern ... and not as a giant digital SLR.

First things first. It is not cheap. $ 1,199 at current prices, most people buy a DSLR really good and call me silly. I also owned less expensive "non-reflex" devices like the Canon G9 and G10, and the Sony NEX-5, but neither felt quite the same as that.

The X100 is beautifully built.Even the lens cap is a solid, something that one piece of metal with a thin coating of foam to keep it tight when attached (and I'll probably lose next month). It has a nice array of buttons and levers where you want, and buttons on the back like any other digital device.

Using the X100, I noticed right away that this is not the same as using the fool, full function pre-programmed digital cameras today. There are no presets for "action", "animals" or "the aquarium". It is not even face detection, you might think would be the norm in this price range.

I recalled the days before cameras were so automated. I could feel the cobwebs being blown as my photography skills were rusty awakened. I guess I'm really lazy!
