I want to see regime change in Zimbabwe — British MP

“I still have many people in my constituency as I expect do other members, who came here from Kosovo because we failed to intervene. I would also like to see regime change in Zimbabwe and Burma. As we look at Ai Weiwei, a great Chinese artist banged up in prison. Perhaps a change of approach in the regime in Beijing would not be wholly unwelcome. Much of my political activist life has been committed to regime change, for example against the apartheid regime in South Africa, or in Poland, where I was put in prison by the communists because I wanted regime change there, obviously by peaceful means.” For your own information Nomsa, both your Gushungo and whoever you call "chituta"... they fall far short of my standards for 21st century leaders. So before going into an over drive singing for your supper... don't be deluded into thinking that Zimbabweans are either ZANU PF or MDC... we have moved on... we are now doing the 3rd, 4th, 5th ...100hth way!!! Basically we want our freedom from your Gushungo and from his sycophants like you. The British have unfinished business in Zimbabwe: Brian MacShane is spot on. When there’s a humanitarian catastrophe as is happening in the Horn Of Africa now where millions face starvation and the West intervenes and feeds the starving, African states turn a blind eye because they are incapable of rescuing the situation but when it comes to the West intervening because of an equally catastrophic situation of people being killed by the army which is supposed to protect then as was the case in Zimbabwe in 2008 African states moan about interference in their affairs - they should say the same when other African states face starvation. This country belongs to us all not to Zanupf. They swear at us as if Zimbabwe is their own private property - it is not. They got into power in 1980 via elections [our votes] and must leave via an election. The country is unable to run its own affairs that’s why we have a dysfunctional coalition - we need powerful mediators like the British to help out. The British are to blame for the situation we find ourselves in because they are the ones who were training the Zanupf army from 1980 up to the year 2000 when the Britsh army trainers were being used as human shields against possible attacks from apartheid forces from S Africa. The British did not train the Zanupf army to be professional instead they concentrated on training them to fire guns only.

Guardian.co.uk Three British teenagers have been killed in a bus crash in Thailand where they were taking a gap year trip before starting university this autumn. Two other young Britons survived the head-on collision with another bus in the early hours near the town of Khlong Khlung on an overnight journey to Chiang Mai, a favorite stop on the ''gappers'' trail through south-east Asia. bangkokpost.com Foreign embassies are monitoring this general election every bit as closely as they did the last one in 2007, but this time special attention is being paid to whether Thai society can avoid the potential for violence after Sunday's polls. The Chinese, Japanese, Belgian, US, British and Japanese envoys all had getting-to-know-you lunches with Thaksin's youngest sister, Yingluck Shinawatra, to discuss the political situation some time before she was nominated as the party's top party list candidate. wsj.com With the rest of Thailand shaping up for a bruising standoff between army-backed conservatives and populist agitators during national elections on July 3, former massage-parlor tycoon Chuvit Kamolvisit is hoping to pick up the right number of votes to propel himself onto the losing side in Parliament and play out his self-appointed role as Thailand's anticorruption watchdog. Media Release Thailand's political parties and newly elected members of parliament should make human rights a priority following general elections, Human Rights Watch said today. During the election campaign, parties and candidates paid little attention to the country's deepening human rights crisis, particularly the lack of accountability for the violent confrontations in April and May 2010 that left at least 90 people dead. dvb.no Three Burmese migrant workers who were held for ransom by human traffickers after being sold on to them by two Thai policemen were rescued by police from the same station in Bangkok. The three; Byauk Owe, 18, Ko Kyaw, 30 and Maung Owe, 19, who worked at a canned fish factory, were arrested by two policemen while having stroll on Sunday. May Thazin Oo, elder sister of Byauk Owe, said they were sold by the police to two human traffickers for 8000 baht each after they failed to show legal documents afp Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono appointed his brother-in-law - who rights groups say may have been responsible for abuses in East Timor in 1999 - as the nation's new army chief.
