Cruising to improve trails

 

Bill Kipp says raising funds for the Paris Parks Foundation should be fun.

"Today is about getting out in the sun and seeing some old cars," said Kipp, chairman of the Paris Parks Foundation. "Right now, we are trying to raise funds to join the trails (around the Nith River) through Lions Park."

About 300 people attended a car cruise and music fundraising event in Lions Park in Paris on Sunday afternoon.

The foundation raises funds to build trails in Paris.

"We're trying to raise $10,000, partly by selling metres of the trail for $40 each," he said. "Sponsors receive a certificate and a donor plaque."

Sunday's gathering included a performance by music group Star Sensations of Brantford, a vintage car cruise and the sale of 50/50 tickets.

Kipp said about 100 people who attended brought vintage cars from decades past.

Bob and Jane Scott, new residents of Paris, attended Sunday's event.

"We just moved to Paris," Bob said. "We came out to wander around and see what is here."

Vince Delurey of Fergus brought his 1967 Plymouth Barracuda to the car cruise.

"I have never been to Paris before," Delurey said. "I came out to show off the car because you very seldom see the (Plymouth Barracuda) convertibles."

Brantford and Brant County have a great trail system. The Old Rail Trail goes from Cambridge to Hamilton. Riding and walking the trail I have seen deer, wild turkeys, an eagle, coyotte, geese, fox, and on one occasion I saw for a moment what appeared to be a lynx. It's a great system I only have one beef. Why can't people learn to pick up after themselves. There is so much garbage out there on our trails.

Please contact us for more information.This 1967 Plymouth Cuda has been treated to a full, expensive and extensive restoration from the ground up and is a completely restored vehicle. It has a 360 Plymouth Mopar engine that was fully and professionally rebuilt a few miles ago and produces over 300 horsepower. It is coupled with the floor 4 Speed and Hurst shifter. It has Posirac, dual exhaust and dual points. It is one fast Cuda. The car has never had any rust issues. It has been treated with one respray in the original color. It has a new top, upholstery, carpet, brakes, tires and real knock off chrome wire wheels. The top is power and all systems including the top work as intended. There were very few Cuda convertibles manufactured in 1967 with white exterior, blue interior and 4-speed making this example extremely rare. On top of that it is a Formula "S" convertible. There were only 3144 Cuda convertibles built in 1967. Very few "S" models. How may survive today? Could this be the only White one alive? This Cuda is a truly collectible Plymouth and will undoubtedly appreciate in value in the future. It has an upgraded Mopar motor with the added horse power making this one fast Cuda. As the motor has been upgraded the Cuda is not a numbers matching car but the upgrade should benefit the value. Our searching of the Internet has been unable to find another one currently for sale in any venue. This is one rare and collectible Cuda that runs and drives very nicely.
