I want to start off this column with an apology to Miriam Perry of town. When I wrote about the Roast held at the Community Club Building In Sandy Point last week, I did not mention her at all. As with any partnership, credit goes to both participants not just one. Miriam has been just as involved with donations as has Ed and I consider them both friends and very giving people. This omission was brought to my attention yesterday and do hope that it will never happen again.
The Prospect Community Club will be holding their monthly Baked Bean and Casserole Supper July 9th. 4:00-6:00 PM in the dining room beside of Maddie's Place and then the following Sat., July 16th. we will be sponsoring a Benefit Buffet Spaghetti and Meat Ball Supper for Dwight and Janice Moody, 4:00-7:00 PM.. Dwight has been out of work for quite some time while having tests and etc. to check on the diagnosis of Bladder Cancer. After a couple of months, the decision was made to operate and try to eliminate the cancer. It seems that all tests have showed no cancer cells left but the recovery will be quite awhile for him. Janice had to take time off from work to be with him during his hospital stay and since he came home yesterday, he still needs her to care for him along with visiting nurses. As Janice said-they have many Dr. visits ahead to several different Drs. Anyone who has experienced serious sicknesses in family or for yourself know that it takes a lot of Drs. involved. The menu at the Benefit Buffet Supper will be Spaghetti, Meatballs, Tossed Salad, Rolls and Biscuits and for Desert, there will be a variety of cakes. A 50-50 will be held at the door and donations for the supper will be accepted at the door also. If you wish to write a check for the supper, please make it payable to Dwight and Janice Moody not the Community Club. Thank you.
Ken Smart is also in the Veteran's Hospital in Roxbury, Mass. He had surgery to repair a hernia and he was deemed well enough to come home after a few days but he landed in the Belfast Hospital with abdominal swelling and pain.
